After a lot of delays, I finally made it to Ecuador. It was a great three days with friends and coworkers. I was able to visit with a lot of people and spend a bit of time sharing clean water filters with families who don't have clean water.
This group of beautiful young ladies belong to one of the families. I am so happy to be able to change lives in this way. While there, the mother told me that she didn't have any photos of her girls. I was happy to grab a couple and look forward to sending these down to her soon. I think we take for granted the idea of capturing memories through photography here in the states. For some it is definitely a luxury.

Two things I love to do... one obviously is photography given this site and the other is traveling to other countries. I have only traveled south... some day I hope to travel across the Atlantic and experience other cultures and landscapes there as well. One of the things I love to photograph are children. It doesn't matter where they are, what economic status they find themselves in, children are amazing. I spend most days working with children who find themselves in difficult situations. I love to let them know that someone believes in them and that their future is wide open for them. Selling... It's an interesting place to be. I have enjoyed photography for many years. Recently I've had the privilege of starting to earn an income from my photography. In the past it has been from Portrait work, then real estate and most recently from landscape prints. This newest trend is actually the photography that I most enjoy. I love "the hunt" as my wife calls it. I go out and hunt down the photograph that I have in my minds eye. My hope is that this new trend will continue so that I can spend more time hunting! If you find an image that you are interested in purchasing, please contact me here. This has been an interesting year of photography for me... especially these last few months. I have had more opportunities than in the past and have sold more than I ever thought. I am on the verge of deciding to start my small business and push a little bit harder to see where this goes. I want to be careful, because it is the photography that I love and I don't want "business" to ruin that. I'm all mixed up inside as to whether I should continue as a joy/hobby or move to another level. I have lived near this cotton for almost 20 years. I have wanted to capture a photo for some time. Last year, I missed my chance because of harvesting early. Not this year. I'm so glad that I was able to plan the photo around a full moon. Cotton is big business here in El Paso. You can find fields of white all along the valley. It is something I didn't grow up with, but I can find beauty in the soft white scattered across the field. Soon it will be gone but for now I get to enjoy it as I drive by. This past weekend I snuck away to find the beautiful Aspens of northern New Mexico. I have wanted to go for a few years, but just couldn't ever get it to work out. This year I made it and I was even able to camp. It was a bit chilly as a fresh snow had fallen the night before, but it was worth it to be able to get out and enjoy some of this beautiful country. Here you can see a small hidden part of the forest off the beaten path. I look forward to getting back out there again in the future! Spending some time on the Oregon coast this week. It's a definite change from the desert southwest. Love the life along the rocks and thE beautiful landscapes. I've had the great pleasure of photographing this beautiful girl for the past three years. She was my first newborn to photograph and I've been lucky enough to photograph her at one and now two years old. She is great and so are her parents! Another great reason to love photography; being a part of a family over the years! Happy Birthday Paisley |
